• After independence Ahmedabad was under rule of state Bombay.

• In 1960 1st may ahemdabad became the capitol of Gujarat as a result of bifurcation of state of Bombay into two state Gujarat and Maharashtra.

• Very good education institutions were established during 1960s and later.
|
|
|
|
• In 1974 navniraman andolan started from L.D. Engg college over just 20 % increase in food bill by authorities and whole Gujarat joined the movement against the high prices of commodities.
|

|
|
• The than chief minister of Gujarat shri Chimanbhai patel was forced to resign. The national government declared emergency on 25th june 1975.
|
|
|
|
• There were 2 major anti reservation protest in Gujarat during 1981 and 1985 and few of the rioting incidents were recorded.
